ha ha ha, yeah its hilarious, ha ha ha
| I dont know, its not like we’re so hip, we’re so “there”, I mean everyone looks at us and whispers “those guys are pretty seriously on the edge- they sound just like this 80s hardcore band, and therefore they are wicked true and I know they are legit” but Im just kinda like “hey bro, its all good” and my blog has goofy pics on it just like anyone else, you know? I’m not trying to be anything Im not. I’m not faking it, like just because I write songs about puberty and bullshit and nothing of any interest to anyone except other ironic fuckheads like me, doesn’t mean my degree in poli sci is going to waste. I mean I try to keep it “grounded”, man. I shun commercial shit like real recordings and anything that isn’t on cassette, but not because its “cool” - because I’m innately aware of its counterculture message and how easily it is for me to join this diaspora of other bands that use stuff like “only released on tape” to polarize people into “with you or not with you based on what they already like”. It works really well because then I never have to defend my music, or explain it- people just know its a ripoff er, homage, and they just back it because it sounds like their favourite records. Hell, its on tape- it IS their favourite records. |
