I am not a fan of the term “inspiration” because it becomes a crutch. As if to say “outside stimuli will strike me with the force I need to stay creative”… life has never worked that way for me. My brain will bash itself apart working on something at times, and sags into a void of inactivity, sloth, and bland apathy on another schedule entirely. Maybe it’s wrong to assume most people are the same way but I don’t think going out looking for “inspiration” is anything but a recipe for being let down when you don’t find what you are looking for.
“Inspiration strikes when you least suspect it”…. no, it absolutely doesn’t. The mythos of Anything Will Happen If You Let It Happen opens the door for getting beaten down by others who aren’t so sloppy. Your brain is a tool and it isn’t to be taken lightly. Confidence is the only weapon you can use to be “inspired”…
